Up for no reserve auction is a very original 1974 GULF BLUE 911S targa.  This color was a special order and is quite rare.

 

This 911S is in great shape.  It has recently been serviced and is ready to drive anywhere.   It runs and drives nicer than any other midyear or SC 911 I have owned.

The car has dealer installed A/C (according to service records, Porsche installed it in 1974 at 265 miles, and it is complete but the belt has been removed since I have owned the car, so I am unsure whether it is functioning or not. The compressor does spin freely (it is not locked up).

 

Theinterior is in excellent shape for it's age.  Only the carpet is showing it's age; it's somewhat faded.  purchased a brand new carpet set, but have never gotten around to installing it.  This auction includes a brand new in the box authentic silverknit carpet set in BLACK.  The rest of the interior is very nice.  The dash is in excellent shape.  The seats have always had covers on them, and are in surprisingly excellent shape otherwise with no tears or wear.  There is one small section on the driver's seat where the stitching is starting to pull apart at a seam.

 

The paint is excellent.  Not even any rock chips.  However, the front impact bumper has some scratches on it.  Only noticeable from a 2 feet away if you are looking for it, but  If this could be repainted, You could probably take the car to a concours event!  It is that nice!

 

The car has a Blaupunkt CD player and speakers

I am a PCA member, lifetime Rennlist member, and an obsessive compulsive Porsche collector.  I know every mark and fingerprint on this car.  It is the tightest 911 I have owned.  The targa top doesn't leak.  There is no rust.  The front pan even under the battery is excellent. 

 

I wouldn't hesitate to jump in this car and drive it across the entire US.  The car has 136,000 miles on it.  It is showing 36,000 and you would believe it was 36,000 original if you didn't know any better.  However, the service records have it documented at 136,000.  I am the fourth owner of the car.  One man owned it from 1974 to 1978, another from 1978 to 1989, the last owner purchased it in 1989 and I am number 4.  The last owner put 300 miles A YEAR on the car.  I know he and I have always garaged it, I imagine both prior owners did as well.  The car has spent it's whole life in California and Texas with a few years in the early 90s in Florida. 

 

Toolkit, compressor, spare tire are all there.  Service records, maint manual, owner's manual, Porsche certificate of authenticity, are included.  The engine has the usual upgrades, carrera tensioners , turbo valve covers, 11 blade fan, a very nice upgraded exhaust system.

 

Clear Texas title.  just passed Texas inspection this month.
